Delete your account and data

PayIt (operated by PayIt Tanzania Ltd.) — this page matches the app name shown on the Google Play Store and is where you can learn how to request account deletion.

How to request account deletion

  1. Send an email to info@idea.co.tz with the subject line PayIt account deletion request.
  2. Use the email address registered on your PayIt account so we can verify ownership. If you no longer have access, say so in the email and be prepared to complete identity checks (e.g. phone or ID) we may need under applicable law.
  3. In the PayIt mobile app or web app (PWA), you can also open this same page from Settings → Delete account (info) to find these steps anytime.
  4. We will confirm receipt and may ask follow-up questions. Deletion is not instant while we verify the request and complete required checks.

What we delete

After a verified request, we will delete or anonymise personal data linked to your account that we are not legally required to keep, including profile details and app preferences, subject to the retention rules below.

What we may keep and why

Some information must be retained for legal, tax, or anti-fraud purposes (for example transaction records, audit logs, or dispute data). We keep only what applicable law in Tanzania and our regulators require, for the minimum time necessary. Aggregated or de-identified data that cannot identify you may also be kept for analytics and service improvement.

Exact retention periods depend on the type of data and our legal obligations; we will explain what applies in our response to your request where relevant.
